ASUS unleashed a myriad of hardcore gaming products under its Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand on September 12 at the “Dare to Win” launch event in Beijing.
The products unveiled at the event included the latest high-end gaming accessories, such as gaming laptops, headsets, power supplies, motherboards, graphics cards and so on. The ROG gaming smartphone stole the spotlight by being one of the most sought-after smartphones geared towards hardcore gaming.
The 6-inch phone is designed with performance in mind for keen mobile gamers, boasting the “world’s fastest speed-binned 2.96GHz octa-core” processor, 8 GB of RAM and a Qualcomm AdrenoTM 630 GPU. It houses a 4,000 mAh battery that is packaged into a body that looks as radical as the company’s gaming laptops. It also supports Quick Charge 4.0 and can be charged from 0 to 66 percent in just 30 minutes. The smartphone features Asus HyperCharge that prevents the device from overheating during charging.
To answer the problem of overheating with such a powerful device, the ROG phone comes equipped with the same GameCool vapor-chamber cooling system seen in ROG laptops. It is claimed the system increases heat dissipation by 16 times. To top off the liquid cooling system, the smartphone also comes with a detachable “AeroActive Cooler” which forces airflow into the phone, supplying an additional cooling boost which should help sustain high frame rates during heated gaming clashes.
ROG has really outdone itself this time by offering numerous accessories to go with its smartphone, including a Mobile Desktop Dock, a WiGig Dock, and a TwinView Dock. The TwinView Dock allows users to install the phone into a handheld device that provides a dual-display setup for gamers to stream on YouTube and play at the same time. It is worth noting that users may connect their phone onto televisions or bigger monitors and connect external keyboards and microphones for better in-game control.
The unbelievable performance-enhanced powerhouse is packed with lots of additional functions including fingerprint unlock, facial recognition, and even has a new Air Trigger function that utilizes ultrasound technology to map out additional virtual buttons on the display and activate new functions such as X-Mode.
The price of the 8GB/128GB storage version is currently priced at 5,999 yuan ($876) while the 512GB storage version is priced at 7,999 yuan. If the smartphone is purchased along with the TwinView Dock, the package price will come to 12,999 yuan.
The ROG brand was established in 2006 for the sole purpose of delivering the most innovative hardcore hardware for truly dedicated gamers. Since then, the efforts of the ROG team have led to a constant flow of PC gaming technology that has become legendary among enthusiasts for its performance.
