Baidu Smart Mini Program Becomes #1 Domestic Platform to Obtain Services Amid National Day Holiday

Tech giant Baidu revealed on Oct. 10 that it has become the top domestic platform for users to obtain services during the 8-day long national day holiday.

The GMV of Baidu Smart Mini Program increased by 228% year-on-year and orders on the Mini Program soared by 266% compared to the same period last year.

As China recovered from Covid-19 and welcomed the annual golden week, industries including tourism, cinemas and hospitality experienced a sharp recovery.

According to data from Chinese financial services corporation UnionPay, the domestic economy witnessed 2.16 trillion yuan of consumption in the first 7 days of the holiday. the Data Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China also reported that the country received 618 million domestic tourists and achieved a total tourism revenue of 454.33 billion yuan.

On the Baidu Smart Mini Program, the number of daily active users rose by 172% year-on-year in categories such as scenic spot tickets, public transportation and hospitality while order volume of the three categories also increased by 139% compared to the same period in 2019.

Meanwhile, since many films were rescheduled to be released during the holiday due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of DAUs in movie ticket purchases in the Mini Program soared by 112% year-on-year with the order volume of this category increasing by 153% year-on-year.

The Baidu Smart Mini Program has over 420,000 applets as of today, covering 271 service areas and partnering with 55 open-source companies.
