Best Upcoming Flagship Phones Release Dates, Specs, Prices and More

Mobile phone brands have been preparing for the launch of new flagship smartphones in 2020. So far, the most highly anticipated phones in Q1 of 2020 are the Xiaomi Mi 10, Huawei P40, iPhone 9, POCO X2 and Samsung S20. Let’s check out the upcoming phones specs, prices and more based on official confirmations and rumors.

Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro 5G

Xiaomi is expected to unveil at least two phones – the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro on February 12 or February 13. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Xiaomi will unveil the new phones online instead of holding a physical event. According to the information disclosed, the Mi 10 series smartphones are believed to support 5G connectivity, using Micron’s LPDDR5 RAM chips for a better 5G experience. Xiaomi had confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi 10 series will be the first to use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipsets at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit on December 3, 2019. As for the cameras, rumors suggest that the upcoming flagship might have punch-hole front camera and 108 MP main camera.

Xiaomi’s last 5G smartphone, the Xiaomi 9 Pro 5G is now priced starting at ¥3799($545), and it is estimated that the starting price of the new 5G handset might be between ¥3500 – ¥4000.

Huawei P40 and P40 Pro 5G

Huawei will launch its next flagships – the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro in March 2020, according to Huawei CEO Richard Yu. The phone adopt a Kirin 990 5G processor and support full band 5G. Due to the ongoing Huawei ban, the new phone cannot use Google Apps but might run its own Huawei Mobile Services. Its battery will use super fast charging and wireless super flash charging technology. As a notable camera phone, P40 series might have dual selfie cameras, a punch-hole display, and Leica triple rear cameras, consisting of a 64MP main lens, 12MP zoom camera (which is supposed to facilitate up to 10x optical zoom), and ultra-wide, depth sensing and macro cameras of unspecified resolution.

The Huawei P40 series phone might be cheaper than its predecessor, the P30 series. Some reports said the Huawei P40 starts at 599 euros (about 2699 yuan) overseas, while the Huawei P30 started at 799 euros (about 3601 yuan).

Samsung Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra

Samsung’s most important S series flagship, the S20 lineup, will be unveiled on February 11 with a shipping date in the US of March 6. Three main models are expected to launch: the 6.2-inch Galaxy S20, the 6.7-inch Galaxy S20 Plus and the 6.9-inch Galaxy S20 Ultra. The S20 and S20 Plus will sport a new 64MP sensor, while the S20 Ultra should get a whopping 108MP camera. What’s more, the Ultra should offer a 100x Space Zoom (digital) and 5G standard. They will be powered by a Snapdragon 865 chipset, probably paired with up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage.

According to the rumor, the phones will start from over $1,000 on the home market in South Korea, with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra costing $1,350.

iPhone SE2 (iPhone9)

People believe that Apple is preparing to launch a new iPhone, the iPhone 9 (the long-rumored iPhone SE2) in March. Previous leaks have suggested that the new iPhone will feature the same A13 processor as the iPhone 11, 3GB of RAM, single-lens camera, and a 4.7-inch display with the return of the home button with Touch ID. As a budget oriented iOS device, the screen might adopt LCD instead of the popular OLED display. 5G won’t be possible for the cheaper iPhone.

Some reports suggest iPhone 9 will be priced at about $399 and if true, the device will compete at an affordable price point.

POCO X2

POCO, a Xiaomi-backed Indian phone brand, unveiled its first 2020 flagship phone, the POCO X2 in India. It almost shares the same design as the Redmi K30 series, rather than a successor to the POCO F1. The budget friendly Poco X2 is powered by the Snapdragon 730G, features a 120Hz refresh rate screen, a 4500mAh battery supporting 27W fast charging, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, dual punch-hole cutout and Sony IMX686 64MP sensor.

It will be available in India on February 11 on Flipkart in three color variants: blue, purple and red, starting from 16,999 rupees ($239).
