Drone Maker DJI Releases New Products for Unmanned Work

Shenzhen-based drone manufacturer DJI has carried out its recent “For Everyday Heroes” event, where it introduced the Matrice 30 Series, a multi-drone fleet management software called FlightHub 2, an autonomous docking and recharging station called DJI Dock, and a new sensor called Zenmuse H20N.

Matrice 30 Series

The Matrice 30 series has a maximum takeoff weight of 4,000g, a maximum horizontal flight speed of 23 m/s, a maximum flight altitude of 7,000m, and a maximum flight time of 41 minutes.

In terms of safety, the drone is equipped with six-way obstacle avoidance sensors and a built-in ADS-B signal receiver.

The series comes in two versions: the M30 and the M30T. The M30 model integrates a 48 megapixel 1/2’’ CMOS sensor zoom camera with 5×~16× optical and 200× digital zoom, a 12 megapixel wide-angle camera, 8k photo 4K/30 fps video resolution, and a laser rangefinder which can give the precise coordinates of objects up to 1,200 meters away. The M30T features an additional 640×512 px radiometric thermal camera.

The Matrice 30 series supports battery power exchange, matches DJI RC Plus enterprise remote control, and supports DJI Cellular module. The package price is 49,800 yuan ($7,825) and 69,800 yuan ($10,968) respectively.

FlightHub 2

FlightHub 2 is an all-in-one cloud-based drone operations management platform. It is meant to enable seamless synchronization and coordination between the pilots, backend teams, drones, payloads, and all the data they gather. Basically, everyone involved in a drone operation – right from the ground teams to nearby supervisors to managers in their offices – can log into the same mission and see the data gathered by the drones and the pilots.

With “One-Tap Panorama Sync,” users can create a 360-degree overview and upload it to the cloud with a single tap. Shared panoramas are placed on the drone mission’s 2.5D Base Map, granting all team members quick aerial awareness.

Through FlightHub 2, the command center can also manage mission and media data. When multiple drones are in operation, multi-channel high-definition livestreaming pictures can be retrieved immediately.

DJI Dock

The DJI Dock is designed to fully automate flights of the company’s flagship Matrice 30 enterprise drone, which it rolled out alongside the new FlightHub 2 fleet management software. It can realize remote flight, collect multi-dimensional information to bring innovation to automatic patrol, infrastructure inspection, project supervision and other fields.

The product weighs 90kg and covers an area of less than 1 square meter. It integrates a built-in antenna, an integrated weather station, an ultra-wide-angle surveillance camera and an RTK base station, so there is no need for personnel to be on duty, thus reducing operation and operations costs. Once it returns and touches down, the dock’s fast charging and battery cooling system will allow the UAV to again take to the air in just 25 minutes. The DJI Dock is rated at IP55, meaning it’s waterproof even when the doors are open under rainy skies. The dock maintains stable internal conditions amid external temperatures ranging from -35 to 50 degrees Celsius. In case of power outages, an internal battery will kick in to make sure its drone returns and lands safely from its mission.

Together with the Matrice 30 enterprise drone, the DJI Dock is priced between 129,800 yuan and 149,800 yuan. It is currently being tested with selected users and will be available for purchase starting from the fourth quarter of this year.

Zenmuse H20N

As DJI explains, the new Zenmuse H20N payload brings together different technologies for night drone operations: a starlight-grade night vision camera, a hybrid zoom thermal imaging camera, and a laser rangefinder.

More precisely, the night vision camera uses a 4MP starlight sensor, 20× optical zoom, and 128× max zoom. The 640×512 resolution thermal imaging camera adapts 2x\8x optical zoom. The picture can be zoomed in equal proportion under the same angle of view, helping the user to quickly compare the details of the picture and lock the target.
