GAC Motor Plans Several Strategic Models Based on Huawei MDC in Next Three Years

During Tuesday’s 2021 Huawei Smart Car Solution Ecological Forum, Xu Wei, the director of the Intelligent Driving Technology Department of GAC’s R&D Center, said, “GAC Motor and Huawei have started cooperation from 2017 and will release a number of strategic models based on Huawei Mobile Data Center (MDC) in the next three years.”

Among the new models, the GAC Aion LX will be launched in 2022, equipped with L2++ NDA (Navigated Driving Assistance) based on Huawei MDC 610.

Trumpchi, fueled by diesel, will also be launched in 2022 with the NDA feature.

GAC Aion plans launch strategic models in 2024, based on the Huawei MDC 810 and L4 architecture.

GAC Aion LX PLUS made its debut at this year’s Guangzhou Auto Show. It has a reported range of 1,008 kilometers and supports fast charging. It has a battery pack capacity of 144kWh that can charge from 30% to 80% in five minutes. The model also has three lidars, six millimeter wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars with eight high-definition cameras, four surround view cameras, and two high-precision positioning modules.

Huawei MDC is developed in response to the requirements that driverless cars place on computing platforms. The previously released version of BAIC Group Blue Valley ARCFOX S HI adopts MDC 810.
