The United States has created many difficulties for Huawei but they are solvable. Huawei will not give up its mobile phone business nor develop real estate, said Guo Ping, the company’s rotating chairman.
“At present, the biggest difficulty for us is the mobile phone business. As we all know, chips for mobile phones need advanced technology as they are small and have low power consumption. Huawei can design its own chip but no one can manufacture it for us. That’s where we are stuck. Huawei has established and helped its industrial chain partners to solve the problems of supply continuity and competitiveness,” Guo told new employees on Tuesday, according to the Huawei online community Xinsheng Shequ.
Moreover, Huawei will not give up its mobile phone business, Guo explained. The mobile phone industry is the third largest industrial sector in the world, after real estate and automobiles. The company’s mobile phone business has been affected but has made significant progress in other areas such as smart house devices, display equipment, and sports and health equipment.
Huawei will not develop real estate but will continue to develop its smart home intelligence, connecting everything in the home through its proprietary software, HarmonyOS.
The theme of Huawei in 2021 is “Live and Have a Future”. Huawei’s ICT industry needs to be able to work around sanctions and continue to serve the company’s operators and enterprise customers. The firm also decided to set up cloud and digital energy businesses which will be major projects going forward.
Whether Huawei’s overseas business will be affected by global political instability, Guo said, “Huawei will never give up its overseas market. Huawei can survive overseas, and with the improvement of supply, it will bloom overseas. The policies of individual countries do not affect Huawei’s overall presence in the world.”
As for 6G, Guo envisioned 5G as a universal global network while 6G could be a regional network for industrial applications. “It is imperative to combine 5G with artificial intelligence, cloud and enterprise application scenarios to unleash the potential of the Internet of Everything and Intelligence of Everything,” he added. In terms of carbon neutrality, Huawei also has a plan. The company has established a subsidiary for digital energy technology to achieve breakthroughs in new energy areas.
