China’s four major phone manufacturers – Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo – will ship more than 400 million units this year, the Electronic Times reported on November 1. Domestic sales are expected to account for more than 60 percent of the total.
By 2018, seven of the world’s Top 10 mobile phone manufacturers will be the Chinese companies Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, Lenovo, ZTE and Gionee. Huawei will rank third in the global mobile market next year, while OPPO and Vivo are expected to perform well and remain in the Top 5 next year.
Xiaomi is expected to rank sixth in the global mobile market in 2018. Lenovo, ZTE and Gionee will rank 8th, 9th and 10th respectively.
According to a report released this week by Canalys, a market-research firm, Huawei, OPPO and Vivo were the top three smartphone makers in China in Q3, with market shares of 19 percent, 18 percent and 17 percent respectively. China’s smartphone shipments rose 23 percent year on year in Q3 to more than 22 million. Shipments of OPPO and Vivo during this period were 21 million and 20 million units respectively. Xiaomi and Apple rank fourth and fifth in China.
