Intel Appoints New Chairman of China Operations, Current President to Retire at End of Year

Technology giant Intel announced on Friday that it has appointed Dr. Wang Rui as Senior Vice President and Chairman of Intel China, overseeing all of the firm’s subsidiary businesses and teams.

Wang Rui holds a doctorate in electrical engineering and a double master’s degree in electrical engineering and philosophy. She has accumulated 27 years of work experience at Intel.

Additionally, Wang has held several senior management positions in the United States and China, and has led international teams with diverse talent from Britain, India, Malaysia, Israel, the United States and China.

Previously, Wang worked in Beijing as Intel’s Corporate Vice President and Manager of Sales and Marketing Group at Intel China.

Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Sales, Marketing and Communications Group at Intel, said: “Dr. Wang Rui has decades of valuable experience in senior management positions such as technology and business, and she also has rich experience in global operations. She is the best candidate for us to appoint as Chairman of Intel China.”

Intel also announced the retirement plan of Yang Xu, current President of Intel China. Yang Xu joined Intel in 1986 and will continue to work at the company until the end of this year.

In the announcement, the firm said: “For Intel, China is very important. China is the largest semiconductor market in the world, and there are many innovative companies here. Intel has been rooted in China for 36 years and it has become one of Intel’s important manufacturing and R&D centers. We continue to invest in collaborative innovation and enjoy development with China’s industrial ecological partners. Intel CEO Pat Kissinger is driving the company on a new journey towards IDM 2.0.”
