Multiple AIGC Applications Have Been Removed from the Apple Store in China

On August 1st, several AIGC-related apps, including SparkDesk from iFlytek, were removed from the Apple App Store early this morning.

The main reason for the removal of these apps is the upcoming “Interim Measures for the Management of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services” which will be implemented on August 15th. The removed apps were not sufficiently compliant in terms of data collection and usage, and it will take some time before they can be re-listed.

According to the Apple review information received by relevant app developers, there are corresponding regulatory measures for Deep Synthesis Technology (DST) and generative AI services (including ChatGPT). DST must meet licensing requirements for operation in China, including obtaining a license.

According to the review, the app was taken down due to its association with ChatGPT, but it did not obtain the necessary license for operation in China.
