NetEase Cloud Music Tests Trading Platform for Beats, Offering Behind-the-Scenes Support for Music Creators

Chinese tech media outlet TMTPost learned from sources on Tuesday that NetEase Cloud Music is currently in alpha testing of a trading platform for beats, which would make the firm the first in the industry to provide such a service.

This move suggests that NetEase Cloud Music will focus on supporting behind-the-scenes music creators as its next step, delving deep into the music industry, with a view towards strengthening the original music-related advantages of the platform in all directions.

On November 24, NetEase Cloud Music and BeatStars, a world-leading digital production marketplace, jointly announced a strategic cooperation. The top producers at BeatStars platform will customize beats for the original music projects of NetEase Cloud Music.

BeatStars was founded in 2008 and currently has more than 3 million users and 5.4 million original beats. BeatStars brings together the resources of many top music producers around the world, such as Mantra, one of the producers of Rihanna’s Selfish, and Jetsonmade, the producer of Dababy. In 2019, rapper Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road won the No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 song for 19 consecutive weeks, and its beat was bought from BeatStars.
