OPPO and Huazhong University of Science and Technology Set Up Joint Laboratory for New Storage Innovation Technology

Smartphone brand OPPO and Huazhong University of Science and Technology in the Chinese city of Wuhan established a joint laboratory on Monday for new storage innovation technology. The two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation on research in technologies including computer architecture and mobile storage technology.

In addition, the two sides will jointly carry out cutting-edge technological, engineering and other related research areas across the basic field of new storage technology. They will also set up innovative practice labs for undergraduates and postgraduates, deepen the integration of production and education and jointly train engineering and research talent.

Up to now, OPPO has established five R&D centers in Shenzhen, Dongguan, Chengdu, Xi’an in China and Hyderabad in India, as well as six research institutes in Silicon Valley, Yokohama, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing and Dongguan. In 2021, OPPO even set up several joint laboratories with universities.

In January 2021, OPPO established its Xi’an R&D Center as part of a broader push to sharpen its technological prowess amid intensified competition. OPPO’s Xi’an R&D Center will carry the R&D and delivery of its A series smartphones.

In September 2021, OPPO and Xidian University formally established the “Xidian University-OPPO Antenna Technology Joint Laboratory.” The two sides will carry out cooperation in the fields of antennas, radio frequency and short-range communications, focusing on basic theoretical research and technological exploration of cutting-edge engineering issues around terminal antenna technology.
