SAIC-GM-Wuling NEV Model Air ev to Start Production in India

On July 6, the signing ceremony of SAIC-GM-Wuling and MG Motors India’s global energy product Wuling Air ev technology license agreement was held in Liuzhou.

SAIC-GM-Wuling said the technology license agreement comprises several technologies related to the product, production, quality and after-sales services of the Wuling Air ev, the company’s first NEV developed in-house. Based on the licensed technologies, MG Motors India will manufacture and sell pure electric vehicles in India, with the relevant products to be launched in the Indian market in the first half of 2023.

The Wuling Air ev is also confirmed to be sold in Indonesia, and is claimed as the official car for the G20 Summit. The Air ev model in China is available in two versions: standard and long wheelbase. They are expected to be launched in the second half of 2022.

In terms of appearance, the fashionable body of the car is lit up in the front with LED strips and a split lamp set. The side has smart lines, with a single window on the standard wheelbase version, and double windows on the long wheelbase version.

The rear styling remains the same as the front. The vehicle is also equipped with run-through light strips and split light sets. For the standard version, the body size is 2599x1505x1631mm, and the wheelbase is 1635mm. For the long wheelbase version, the body size is 2974x1505x1631mm, and the wheelbase is 2010mm.

In terms of power, this model is driven by a single motor. The maximum power of both the standard and long wheelbase versions is 30 kw and 50 kw respectively. The model also has 28.1 kWh ferrous lithium phosphate battery pack, and the CLTC has a cruising range of 300km.

According to SAIC-GM-Wuling, in 2021, the company exported 145,550 units/set, a record high. From January to June this year, 85,904 units/set were exported overseas, up 16% year-on-year.
