Seres and Huawei EV Model AITO M5 to Begin Major Delivery in March

Seres, a subsidiary of Chongqing Sokon Industrial Group Co., Ltd., revealed on Tuesday that its AITO M5 electric vehicle (EV) model, jointly developed with Huawei, will be delivered “in large quantities” in March 2022, fulfilling its commitment to users. From release to marketing to delivery, the AITO M5 has only taken three months to reach this point.

During the Spring Festival, the Seres factory continued to accelerate the production of AITO M5. At present, more than 1,000 test and exhibition cars have arrived at terminal stores, including nearly 400 Huawei experience stores and more than 100 Seres user centers, covering 90 large and medium-sized cities across China for consumers to inspect and test drive. In 2022, the scale will reach 1,200 experience stores and over 300 user centers.

It took only three months for AITO M5 to progress from release to marketing to delivery. Sources from Seres responded that this was due to the Liangjiang Smart Factory built by Sokon with Industry 4.0 as the standard, which achieved 100% automation of key processes through the cooperation of more than 1,000 robots. In addition, Huawei’s deep empowerment of AITO M5, from product definition and quality control to channel sales, also accelerated the delivery of new models.

On December 23 last year, at the Huawei Flagship New Product Launch Conference, Seres’ first flagship extended-range EV, the AITO M5, was officially released, priced from 250,000 yuan ($39,361).

In addition to being equipped with Huawei’s HarmonyOS car system and the “HUAWEI DriveOne” electrical system, the AITO M5 also has Huawei’s in-depth participation in terms of exterior and interior design, performance configuration, audio and home charging piles.

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business and CEO of the Intelligent Automotive Solution BU, announced at the new car launch conference that the M5 is at a level comparable to that of million-dollar luxury cars, and plans to make AITO one of the top three global new energy brands within five years.
