Smartphone Maker Transsion Tecno Launches Spark 8 in India at Reasonable Price

Tecno, which is owned by Chinese smartphone company Transsion Holdings, on Friday launched the Spark 8 phone in India, which is tagged with a reasonable price when selecting entry-level specs.

The Tecno Spark 8 adopts dual rear cameras equipped with a 16-megapixel main sensor containing an f/1.8 aperture. The cameras support AI beautification features, gesture control shooting, AI portrait mode, HDR, AR shooting, time-lapse mode, panorama mode and slow motion mode. There is an 8-megapixel camera in front with dual flashes for selfies and video chats. Interestingly, the rear fingerprint module of this smartphone is located in the lower right corner of the camera module, which is very unusual.

The Tecno Spark 8 features a 6.56-inch HD display with a water drop notch. The phone has 480 nits of brightness and a standard refresh rate of 60Hz. It is slightly bulky, with a thickness of 9.2 mm, a width of 76 mm and a height of 165 mm. In terms of performance, the phone adopts a MediaTek Helio G25 chipset, with 3GB LPDDR4X memory and 64GB storage, which can be expanded to 256GB through a microSD card. It supports HyperEngine technology, which provides a seamless gaming experience.

The Tecno Spark 8 comes with a 5000mAh battery and a custom Android 11 operating system, known as HiOS 7.6. Its connection features include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS.

The price of the Tecno Spark 8 in India with 3GB memory and 32GB storage is 9299 Indian rupees ($125). Three colors – blue, green and purple – are available for customers to choose from.

Previously, on the evening of October 25, Transsion Holdings released its third quarterly report of 2021. The company achieved operating income of 35.773 billion yuan ($5.6 billion) in the first three quarters, a year-on-year increase of 43.26%. The net profit attributed to the parent company is 2.882 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 47.49%. The net profit after deducting non-recurring gains and losses was 2.539 billion yuan, an increase of 45.25% compared to that of last year.

As for the rapid growth of performance, Transsion Holdings said that while maintaining its competitive advantage in the African market, the company actively expanded in markets outside Africa, continuously improved its product strength and increased its brand promotion – therefore, its sales scale has increased.
