For the first time in ten years, Lenovo Holdings’ mobile business has achieved profit, mainly because its mobile business has withdrawn from 70 to 80 markets overseas.
At the 2018 Lenovo Tech World on Sept. 27, Yang Yuanqing, chairman and CEO of Lenovo announced that Lenovo will launch the world’s first 5G smartphone “moto Z3”
Motorola officially released the Motorola Z3 flagship smartphone in the afternoon of August 15. With a thickness of 6.75mm, the Z3 is supposedly “the world’s thinnest flagship”. It is also the first 5G module phone in China.
Motorola confirmed on its Weibo account on August 6 that it will host a new product launch in Wuhan in the middle of August, likely to launch the first 5G module in China.
A number of products by Lenovo-owned Motorola have been under the limelight recently, including the new G6 phone series. This series has been in the news for a long time, but was never officially released until recently when the company sent invitations to Brazilian media for a press conference on April 19th.
On March 10, industry sources said that Lenovo Group’s Motorola Mobile may lay off half of its Chicago headquarters employees. This clouds the future of its modular smartphone project.
An army of Chinese brands led by Xiaomi has come to dominate the domestic smartphone market. SONY, Samsung, Blackberry and a large number of overseas brands have become its victims. Foreign media reported that Samsung’s smartphone market share in China fell to 2 percent in Q3, putting it in ninth place.
