On Sept. 4, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi officially launched its Mi TV 4A 32-inch in Indonesia. The product is Xiaomi’s first smart TV to officially enter the Indonesian market and is sold at a much lower price than its competitors.
The Mi TV 4A 32-inch comes with a sleek, black finish and reduced weight which allows it to be easily carried. The TV is powered by 64-bit quad-core processor, and runs a PatchWall interface. It also supports Google voice search, enabling users to search for content efficiently using the voice activation button of the remote control.
The Indonesian version of the television is consistent with its Chinese domestic one in terms of appearance and function. In order to cater to local preferences, a few hardware optimizations were included. Additional features such as an extra 8GB of storage for more content, the raised in speaker outputs from 5W to 8W a higher audio output, and three HDMI ports to allow more external connections from various devices were added to the Indonesian version.
In terms of content, the Mi TV 4A provides more than 700,000 hours of content in cooperation with local leading video platforms.
The launch in Indonesia marks the entrance into overseas markets for Xiaomi’s Mi TV series. The company is hoping to establish a strong foothold in the Indonesian market with quality products. According to Wang Chuan, co-founder of Xiaomi and head of Mi TV, the Mi TV 4A had an impressive repair rate as low as 0.64 percent since its release, compared to the industrial average of 2.6 percent.
The Mi TV 4A will be sold at an unbelievable price of just 1.99 million IDR (around $134), similar to its Chinese domestic version priced at 899 yuan ($131). Preorders will start on Sept. 6 on Lazada, the largest e-commerce platform in South East Asia, and Xiaomi’s official website (mi.com). Open sales will commence on Sept. 20.
