On March 27, Xiaomi officially released the MIX 2S, a gaming laptop and an AI speaker at the Shanghai Baoshan Gymnasium.
The MIX 2S looks like the MIX 2, designed with three narrow edges and a chin on the front screen. The edges are narrower and the screen-to-body ratio is higher than the MIX 2. The MIX 2S has dual back cameras composed of a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. The two cameras are vertically aligned in the upper left corner. The MIX 2S lens use 1.4μm super large pixels and Dual PD.
The pictures released at the press conference look stunning. Especially under dark light, the MIX 2S has much better performance compared to the previous generation.
Ultra-photosensitive dual-cameras can automatically adjust the background light, resulting in a dreamy effect. Assisted by AI, the camera could optimize 206 scenarios in 25 categories. The front camera supports real-time AI Bokeh and mirror functions.
A new function of the AI camera allows the user to take a picture of an item to find its price, which is very convenient for those travelling abroad. In addition, the Xiaomi MIX 2S scored 101 points in DxO, an image quality benchmark for smartphones.
The Xiaomi MIX 2S is China’s first smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon 845 processor clocked at 2.8GHz. The MIX 2S adopts the all-new Kryo 385 architecture, Adreno 630 graphics processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It latest benchmark score on AnTuTu is 277,178 points. The MIX 2S will support 7.5W fast wireless charging. Its voice assistant is called Xiaoai.
The 6GB RAM and 64GB storage version is priced at 3,299 yuan ($525), and the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version is 3,599 yuan ($573). The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version is priced at 3,999 yuan ($636), and comes with a free wireless charger.
Gaming laptop and AI Speaker mini
In addition, Xiaomi also released its gaming laptop at the press conference. The laptop has a logo-free simple design. It features a 16 million-color keyboard with four customizable zones, a 15.6-inch screen with ultra-narrow borders, and the world’s first Dolby enhanced version. It has the GeForce GTX 1060 display card, 6GB video memory, i7 standard processor, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD storage and 1TB HDD. The Xiaomi laptop also supports dual SSD mode. It has extraordinary performance in online games. Its price is 8,999 yuan ($1,432), and the entry level version (i5+GeForce 1050) is 5,999 yuan ($955).
Xiaomi’s Mi AI Speaker mini was the last product released at the press conference. The AI Speaker mini, priced at 169 yuan ($27), has more than 200 practical functions and mass content.
