Chinese Startup Nreal to Launch Nreal Air AR Glasses in the UK
Beijing-based tech startup Nreal announced Tuesday that it will soon launch in the UK its core product, the Nreal Air AR glasses, through an exclusive agreement with BT-owned mobile operator EE.
Nreal’s glasses allow users to watch movies or play games on a large virtual display, and they can be connected to smartphones through a cable. The Nreal Air’s design looks like sunglasses, similar to Snap’s Spectacles series of smart glasses.
There are two main modes supported by Nreal Air, including Air Casting and MR Space. Air Casting allows users to view smartphone content on a 130-inch virtual display, while MR Space combines virtual objects with the physical space around users.
Nreal has not given an exact release date or price for the device in the UK market at this time, while a spokesman said more details would be announced “at a later date.”
Founded in 2017, Nreal has launched two AR glasses, including Nreal Light and Nreal Air. The latter debuted in China in September 2021. So far, the company has raised more than $230 million from investors such as Alibaba, NIO Capital and Sequoia Capital China.
