According to Vivo, the dual-display NEX phone is innovative in its industrial design, using the “combination of virtual and reality” to integrate camera settings, screen, lenses, lunar ring lights and other features in a limited space. The 16 RGB mini-lights hidden beneath the “lunar ring” match the OLED screen. The phone comes in two colors: ice blue and star purple.
The Vivo NEX dual screen adopts the Snapdragon 845 chipset, with a standard of 10 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The front is a 6.39-inch ultra full-view display, with a 5.49-inch lunar ring display on its back. As for camera setup, it has three cameras, with a 12 MP major camera that supports four-axis Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and another camera with Time of Flight (ToF) functions. ToF is used for measuring distances and unlocking the phone. It also supports facial recognition payment and fifth generation in-display fingerprint recognition. The battery capacity has been reduced to 3500 mAh from 4000 mAh.
In terms of functions, the new phone supports dual display multitasking, with different interfaces on the front and back, which largely elevates the user experience and efficiency. Users can enjoy mobile reading while conducting mobile payment.
According to the Verge, the dual screens could be especially useful in scenarios where the rear touch pad is used for gaming.
The dual-display Vivo NEX will be on sale from December 29, at the price of 4998 yuan ($725).
