miHoYo Founder Hugh Tsai’s New AGI Project “Anuttacon” Unveiled

Hugh Tsai rarely makes an appearance. In recent days, his new company Anuttacon has come to light, which is an AGI startup project. Industry sources confirm from several investors that Anuttacon is indeed the new project Hugh Tsai is involved in.

A venture capitalist active in the Silicon Valley Bay Area happened to discuss the project team and provided two pieces of information: early-stage AI + gaming; later, it’s a content platform.

Last year, 36-year-old Hugh Tsai announced that he would step down from his leadership role at miHoYo. At that time, miHoYo officials mentioned that Hugh Tsai would focus more on research and application of cutting-edge technology, new project development, and connecting domestic and overseas research and development resources.

From the Anuttacon official website, it can be seen that this is a team composed of AI researchers, engineers, and creatives who firmly believe that AI has the potential to create new entertainment experiences and push the boundaries of interactive entertainment that people have never experienced before. The ultimate goal is to harness the full potential of AI technology to create new, innovative, intelligent, and highly engaging virtual worlds and AGI products. This reminds one of the plan proposed by miHoYo: to create a virtual world enjoyed by one billion people by 2030.

On LinkedIn, Anuttacon has several important associates: including Ray Wang, the former vice president of Bilibili who left the company at the end of last year, and was the youngest executive born in the 90s at Bilibili; Tong Xin, a former partner at Microsoft Research and head of the Network Graphics Group, who holds the position of Partner Research Manager at Anuttacon; and Ye Lideng, who joined miHoYo in 2021 and was responsible for distributed computing and infrastructure… and so on.

Currently, this team is recruiting employees mainly in the San Francisco Bay Area and has an office in Santa Clara, California.

This company is the new project of miHoYo founder Hugh Tsai. Previously, several domestic tech media outlets found more clues, such as Anuttacon’s registration in Singapore, which shares the same address as miHoYo’s Singapore headquarters, Hoyoverse.

Not long ago, Hugh Tsai made a rare post on LinkedIn, stating that AIGC has completely revolutionized game development, and it is only a matter of time before this phenomenon unfolds completely.
