CAICT: 35.3 Million Smartphones Shipped in November, Increase of 19.2%

According to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), the number of smart phones shipped domestically in November totalled 35.252 million, a 19.2% year-on-year growth. Among all the shipments, there was a 43.9% year-on-year growth for 5G smartphone exports which totals 28.967 million and accounts for 82.2% of smartphone shipments within the same period.

Over the past 11 months, overall cell phone shipments in the domestic market totaled more than 317 million, up 12.8% year-over-year, among which 183 million of 5G mobile phones were sold, up 70.4% year-on-year, accounting for 73.8% of mobile phone shipments in that same period.

In November, 47 new smartphone phone types were released in China, up 34.3% year-on-year, including 15 different types of 5G smartphones, down 16.7% year-on-year, and accounting for 31.9% of the new mobile phone models released in the same period.

From January to November, a total of 427 new models came into market, up 3.1% year-on-year, including 203 new models of 5G smartphones, up 2.0% year-on-year, accounting for 47.5% of the new smartphone phone models released at the beginning of this season.

In November, domestic brand smartphone shipments reached 28.041 million units with a year-on-year increase of 23.6%, accounting for 79.5% of smartphone shipments in the same period. In the same month, there were 43 new models released, a 53.6% year-on-year growth and accounting for 91.5% of the new smartphone models listed in the same period. Smartphone shipments reached 34.841 million units, up 25.7% year-on-year, accounting for 98.8% of the smartphone shipments in the same period.
