OnePlus and Disney released their cross-border product, a Star Wars branded version of the OnePlus 5T, in Mumbai, India on December 21. The phone, an 8 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM version, is priced 38,999 rupees (about 4,020 yuan). The limited edition will also be available in the Nordic region. It will not be released in China.
“The cooperation with the Star Wars franchise and Disney is exciting,” said Peter Lau, OnePlus founder, in an interview with foreign media, “It is not just because of influence, but is more about spreading the world with which George Lucas has influenced generations of people. It also shows the values of OnePlus – Never Settle.”
In this collaboration, OnePlus joined with Disney to redesign the OnePlus 5T with white, red and black as the theme. “The Star Wars version of the OnePlus 5T created the first sandstone white phone in the industry. It is a special sandstone material. When users touch their mobile phone, they will feel the texture. It is like the Crait planet in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is covered in white salt,” said Zeng Xi, product manager of the Star Wars OnePlus 5T.
The ore red, a key element in Star Wars VIII, is used in the Star Wars logo on the back of the mobile phone, as well as the three-part button.
Characters from the film are also fully utilized in the cooperation. A new 3D protective shell was based on Kylo Ren’s helmet, and 10 exclusive Star Wars wallpapers will be available to complete the product.
