Smart AR Glasses Brand INMO Completes Pre-A Round of Financing, Led by Matrix Partners

INMO Technology, an AR smart glasses brand, has recently completed the pre-A round of financing worth several million yuan. This round of financing was led by Matrix Partners. Serving as co-investors are Unity Ventures, JunSan Capital and other previous shareholders.

Lv Yifei, Co-Founder and CMO of INMO, said that this round of funds will be used for mass production delivery and brand building.

INMO Technology, whose founder used to be the general manager of Wear Division of Coolpad Group, was established in 2020. At present, the team has over 50 people, 70% of whom are R&D personnel. The core staff of the team are from smartphone manufacturers such as Huawei and Xiaomi. The team has much experience in creating wearable products that have been popular with customers around the world.

Since its establishment, INMO has released two types of smart glasses: the INMO Air glasses for C-end and INMO X glasses for B-end.

INMO Air smart glasses can be used without smartphones and support independent computing. The main frequency of the glasses can reach up to 2.0 GHz yet the whole product only weighs less than 80g, similar to anordinary pair of sunglasses. In terms of battery life, the INMO Air can be used continuously for 4 hours and be put on standby for 72 hours, which should meet the needs of most users.

For the optical display, based on optical waveguide technology, the joint supplier of INMO has developed a display technology of vertical array optical waveguides. INMO Air also has the functions of memo reminders, dialogue translation, AR navigation, and other features. Such diversity in its use allows users to utilize applications such as watching videos anytime and anywhere while also being able to take pictures quickly.

Lv Yifei said that the Chinese market and C-end market will be the strategic focus of INMO. He believes that manufacturers need to do more in terms of technical iteration, power consumption, weight and overall cost of the glasses. They also need to adapt to the fit the needs of applications instead of just developing the same functions of weather and information that can be found on most smartphones. AR glasses are not a projection screen of a smartphone, but a device independent from the smartphone.
