Xiaomi Closes Its Only UK Store

According to Android Authority, as of March 5th, Xiaomi‘s first and only official store in the United Kingdom was no longer open. The Chinese smartphone and AIoT giant confirmed the news. The company has also shut down the store’s official Twitter account (@mistorelondon).

Opened in November 2018 and located in London’s Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd’s Bush, the store antedated Xiaomi<img decoding="async" class="trade-card__loading" layout="fixed" height="50" width="50" src="https://assets.pandaily.com/uploads/2021/12/loading.png" placeholder />’s rapid rise in Western Europe that began with the brands foray into the Spanish market in 2017. In Q3 of 2019, Xiaomi<img decoding="async" class="trade-card__loading" layout="fixed" height="50" width="50" src="https://assets.pandaily.com/uploads/2021/12/loading.png" placeholder /> surged to the fourth spot in terms of market share across Europe reporting 73% year-on-year growth according to Canalys.

A Xiaomi<img decoding="async" class="trade-card__loading" layout="fixed" height="50" width="50" src="https://assets.pandaily.com/uploads/2021/12/loading.png" placeholder /> spokesperson said in a statement:

“This adjustment to our local retail strategy is a reaction to our fast growing business in Western Europe. Since our official arrival in the UK over one year ago, we have loved building relationships with our users, Mi Fans and partners and thank them all for their support. UK users and Mi Fans can continue to purchase Xiaomi<img decoding="async" class="trade-card__loading" layout="fixed" height="50" width="50" src="https://assets.pandaily.com/uploads/2021/12/loading.png" placeholder /> products through our official website mi.com/uk and other official channels that will be announced along with our product launches in the future.”
