OPPO Disbands ZEKU Team, May Give up Self-developed Chips

On May 12th, OPPO announced that in the face of global economic uncertainty and an uncertain mobile phone market, after careful consideration, the company has decided to terminate its ZEKU business.

“This is a difficult decision, and we will handle the relevant matters properly. We will continue to produce good products and create value as always.” OPPO stated.

According to public information, OPPO established the company in 2019 and renamed it ZEKU in July 2020. ZEKU covers product lines including core application processors, short-range communication, 5G Modem, RF, ISP and power management chips.

On May 12th, ZEKU, a subsidiary of OPPO, sent an internal letter stating that the company has made a shareholder decision to dissolve ZEKU. and its wholly-owned subsidiaries and branches from May 12th, 2023, and terminate all labor contracts.

The letter pointed out that for fresh graduates who have not yet reported for duty, they can choose to join other departments of OPPO or accept “N+3” compensation.
