The device series will include the P40, P40 Pro and P40 Pro Premium smartphones. 5G compatibility will come standard on the P40 devices, so customers won’t need to splurge for an upgraded variant. Following leaks from Geekbench and Evan Blass, more details were confirmed about the impending smartphone series.
The Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will come in Black, Silver Frost, Blush Gold, Deep Sea Blue, Ice White, Ceramic Black and Ceramic White. The P40 Pro has a quad camera with a periscope lens and a 52MP primary sensor with an RYYB filter, while the Huawei P40 Pro Premium has five lenses in a robust camera setup. Huawei’s latest product will boast a Kirin 990 5G processor, and support up to 12GB RAM and 512G storage.
China’s implementation of nationwide 5G networks remains quite advanced, having experienced little disruption from the COVID-19 pandemic. Sihan Bo Chen, Head of Greater China at GSMA, a trade group for the mobile sector, commented, “China is leading in the early adoption in 5G and has already built more than 160,000 5G base stations covering more than 50 cities as operators aim to expand standalone 5G network coverage and capacity.” Huawei’s P40 series will help the company consolidate their leading position in the Chinese market by capitalizing on the robust 5G infrastructure available in China’s major urban centers.
In terms of pricing, the P40 will be priced at around 6,500 yuan ($920), while the P40 Pro is 8,000 yuan ($1,100), and the P40 Pro Premium is 9,600 yuan ($1,356).
